Botox® has a long history in medicine. The FDA first approved BOTOX for medical use in 1991, and BOTOX Cosmetic was FDA-approved in 2002 for the temporary improvement of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Today, BOTOX Cosmetic has been FDA-approved for cosmetic use for more than 20 years.
Botox Cosmetic is a prescription injectable containing onabotulinumtoxinA. It works by temporarily reducing nerve signals to selected muscles, decreasing the repetitive muscle contractions that contribute to expression lines and wrinkles.
For cosmetic purposes, FDA-approved treatment areas include:
Botox also has important medical applications beyond aesthetics. OnabotulinumtoxinA is used for conditions including certain types of muscle spasticity, bladder disorders and excessive underarm sweating, among other indications.
Results are temporary. For forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet, results can last up to approximately four months, although individual results vary.
At Lavender Skin Therapy, Botox injections are performed by our experienced Registered Nurse (RN). Each client is individually assessed so that the treatment can be planned according to their facial anatomy, muscle movement and aesthetic goals.
Our goal is not to change the way you look, but to provide a professional, individualized treatment designed to soften expression lines while maintaining a natural appearance.
Important when planning your appointments: We recommend scheduling your facial before Botox and waiting 2 weeks after Botox before receiving facial treatments at Lavender Skin Therapy.
